Let it be known that 5 major theater chains — Regal Entertainment, AMC Entertainment, Cinemark, Carmike Cinemas and Cineplex Entertainment — are cowards and are strengthening terrorists. I’m embarrassed to be sharing a country with these people.

Is it actually cowardly, though? They’re acting on credible if low-probability large downside risks, which is a thing that people generally don’t do enough.
Yes it is. Standard game theory says you do not capitulate to blackmail, as it makes blackmail proliferate. When someone kidnaps your brother and holds him hostage you do not pay them off. Even if they are completely credible and there is 100% probability of disastrous downsides. That only leads to more kidnappings. Standing up to threats despite knowing you will lose something you love is hard. It is brave. Capitulating is cowardice.
